  3. The crewel work is gorgeous isn't it.
    The gold and silver embroidery on the bodices was so heavy, could you imagine the weight of the gowns these women of the past carried about with them. Mind you such elaborate detail would have been reserved for a special occasion dress but to dance about the floor must have taken superb posture and the ability to hide one's discomfort.But then again with a handsome beau standing across the dance floor one could manage to forget the sacrifice and proceed with the reel.
    Always such a delight to view your passion.

    Donna, how beautiful and indeed precious these lovely old pieces are.
    I can just imagine the weight of them in my hand,to carefully touch beautiful silken stitching, the wonderful colors of old flowers...how wonderful that you are the caretaker of such amazingly beautiful and wonderful things,
